Reporting a church with incorrect data or that has closed
The report button exists to flag situations that are more serious or urgent than a simple schedule correction. This guide explains when to use it and what to expect afterward.
When to report vs. when to suggest a correction
There are two different paths:
- Suggest a correction (via the "Suggest correction" button on each listing): for data changes — updated schedule, new address, incorrect phone number. Read /en/help/articulo/iglesias/editar-iglesia if that's what you need.
- Report (the "Report" button on each listing): to alert the team about a problem that requires special attention.
Report categories
When you click "Report", the form asks you to choose a category:
Seriously incorrect data — The information is so wrong that it could send someone to the wrong place or have them call a number that doesn't belong to the church.
Church closed or no longer exists — The congregation has stopped operating, or the location was demolished or repurposed. This is important to prevent people from making unnecessary trips.
Inappropriate content — The description, photos, or other content doesn't comply with the site's guidelines (offensive language, inappropriate images, advertising, etc.).
Other reason — For situations that don't fit the above categories. Use the text field to explain.
What happens after reporting
- The EncuentraIglesias team receives the report with the category and the text you wrote.
- The listing is reviewed within 1 to 5 business days, usually sooner if the category is "closed" or "inappropriate content".
- If the report is valid, the listing is updated or removed.
- We don't always send individual confirmation, but you can revisit the listing to see if the change was applied.
Anonymous reports
You don't need to be signed in to report. However, reports tied to an account receive higher priority and allow us to contact you if we need more details.
Did nobody act on your report?
If more than 7 business days have passed and the listing is unchanged, write to us directly from /contact mentioning the church name and type of problem.
