How to search for a church: basic and advanced search

Finding the right church can be simpler than it seems. EI offers two ways to search: the main search bar, ideal for quick queries, and the advanced search, for when you need to narrow down your results.

Basic search from the main page

The search bar is at the top of every page on the site. Type what you're looking for — church name, city, or denomination — and press Enter. The system searches name, city, and description all at once.

Examples that work well:

• Primera Bautista Monterrey
• evangelical churches in Bogotá
• Adventist Mexico City

If the exact name doesn't appear, try with fewer words. Sometimes Bautista Guadalajara is enough rather than the full name.

Advanced search at /advanced-search

The advanced search gives you independent controls for each field: denomination, country, state or region, city, and religion type. It's the right option when:

• You don't remember the exact church name but you know the denomination and city.
• You want to explore all churches of a denomination in a specific area.
• The basic search returns too many results and you need to filter.

To get there, click the Advanced search link that appears next to the main bar, or go directly to /advanced-search.

When to use each one

Tip: start with denomination

If you're not sure of the name, the most effective trick is to search by denomination first. Denominations are standardized in the directory, so typing Pentecostal in the basic bar or selecting it in the advanced filter gives you a clean list to browse from.

Results on the map

All search results include a map view. If the church has coordinates on file, it appears as a marker. You can toggle between list and map using the buttons at the top of the results.
