Choosing an avatar
On EncuentraIglesias your profile image is an illustrated avatar, not a photo of yourself. This is a design decision with a specific purpose: to protect your privacy and identity within the community.
Why we use avatars
Online faith communities can bring together people from very different backgrounds. We think about brothers and sisters who prefer not to reveal their image for personal safety reasons: someone going through a conversion process in a hostile environment, someone escaping a difficult situation, or simply someone who values their privacy. By not uploading personal photos, no one can know what you look like physically based on your EI profile.
Also, avatars remove the social pressure of having a "good photo" and keep the focus on what matters: the conversation and the faith.
The avatar catalog
EI offers dozens of Christian-themed avatars: people, symbols, animals, landscapes, and more. You can change yours at any time.
- Go to
/en/perfil. - Click your current avatar (or the Change avatar button next to it).
- Browse the catalog. You can filter by category if you prefer.
- Click the avatar you like.
- Click Save. The change takes effect immediately.
Unlockable avatars
Some special avatars aren't available from the start — they're unlocked by completing certain achievements on the platform. For example, maintaining a devotional streak or publishing your first testimony post can unlock an exclusive avatar.

Can I use the same avatar as someone else?
Yes, the catalog is shared. There's no issue with two users choosing the same avatar.
