Safety: how to avoid scams and protect your account

The community feed is designed for spiritual edification, but like any online space it can attract people with bad intentions. This guide gives you the most important warning signs to watch for.

What the EncuentraIglesias team NEVER does

  • We will never ask for your password — not by message, not by email, not in any way.
  • We will never ask for money, donations, gift cards, or transfers.
  • We will never ask you to leave the platform to "continue the conversation."
  • If you see a message claiming to be from the "EI team" asking for any of these things, it's a scam.

Warning signs in the feed

Be cautious if someone in the feed:

  • Asks you for money, even "for a Christian cause" or "an emergency."
  • Shares a phone number, email, or social media profile.
  • Invites you to a "private video call," "WhatsApp group," or "Telegram channel."
  • Uses phrases like "I'll reach out separately," "write to me directly," or "I have something for you."
  • Offers blessings, prosperity, or miracles in exchange for money.
  • Claims to be a pastor, missionary, or authority figure and urgently asks you to trust them.

None of these situations are legitimate in the context of the feed.

Why there are no private messages in EI

EI has no direct messaging system between users, and that's not an oversight — it's a deliberate protection decision. DMs are the preferred channel for scammers and harassers. Without that channel, the community is safer for everyone, especially for vulnerable people.

What to do if you detect a scam attempt

  1. Don't respond or click on any link they shared.
  2. Report the post or comment using the report button (choose "Scam or fraud").
  3. If you already shared personal information or money, act immediately: change passwords, contact your bank if necessary, and report it to us.
