The Canção Nova Community, known for its evangelistic and missionary work, recently held its 16th General Assembly, a significant moment for church life. The election took place on Friday, May 1, and reflects the trust placed in his leadership for the coming years.

Father Donizete Heleno Ferreira Re-elected as Vice President of Canção Nova Community

Father Donizete, originally from Rio Pomba (MG), has been part of Canção Nova since 2003. His journey is marked by missions in various locations, including Cachoeira Paulista, Palmas, and Rome. He has held key roles such as coordinator, vocational accompanist, and rector of the seminary, demonstrating a heart for service and the formation of new leaders.

The re-election comes at a time of renewal, following the election of the new president, Father Roger Luis da Silva, who was also chosen during the assembly. Together, they will lead the community with a vision to strengthen evangelization and discipleship, always aligned with Christian values.

The Role of the Vice President in Community Life

In the structure of Canção Nova, the vice president acts as an advisor and direct support to the president, assisting in decision-making and coordination of activities. Father Donizete already held this position and now will have the opportunity to continue contributing with his experience and wisdom.

The Bible reminds us of the importance of humble service and shared leadership. In Mark 10:45, Jesus teaches: "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (NIV). This passage inspires the work of Christian leaders, who are called to serve with dedication and love.

The community also values the diversity of gifts and talents, as described in 1 Corinthians 12. Teamwork is essential for the growth of the body of Christ, and the shared leadership between president and vice president reflects this unity.

A Journey of Faith and Service

Father Donizete Heleno Ferreira holds a degree in Letters (Portuguese and English) and has a solid academic background alongside his religious vocation. Before joining Canção Nova, he already showed a missionary heart, and his entry into the community in 2003 was a decisive step in his faith journey.

Over the years, he has worked on various fronts, always focused on evangelization and pastoral care. As coordinator of the Casa de Maria and rector of the seminary, he helped form many young people who now serve in different parts of the world. His international experience, especially in Rome, has given him a broad vision of the global church.

The re-election as vice president is a recognition of his dedication and competence. The community trusts that, under his leadership, Canção Nova will continue to be an instrument of God to reach hearts and transform lives.

The Future of Canção Nova

With the new leadership team, Canção Nova prepares to face the challenges of the contemporary world while remaining faithful to its mission of proclaiming the Gospel. The community has invested in new technologies and media to reach a wider audience without losing the essence of personal contact and community life.

Father Roger Luis da Silva, the new president, and Father Donizete will work together to strengthen the community's foundations, promoting retreats, courses, and events that nourish participants' faith. The vision is that each member feels part of a spiritual family where God's love is lived and shared.

In Philippians 2:3-4, we read: "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others" (NIV). This principle will guide the new administration.
