The Canção Nova Community, known for its evangelistic and social outreach, has elected Rosana Aparecida Palandi Silva as its new general treasurer. The decision was made on Friday, May 1, during a meeting of the General Council. Rosana, who has dedicated nearly three decades to the community, now takes on the responsibility of managing the institution's resources—a task that requires not only technical skill but deep spirituality.

Faith Meets Finance: Rosana Palandi Takes the Helm as Canção Nova’s New General Treasurer

Born in Guaratinguetá (São Paulo) on February 18, 1968, Rosana is married to Jorge Aparecido da Silva and mother of two. She joined Canção Nova on February 2, 1997. Her journey includes missions in Cachoeira Paulista (SP), Curitiba (PR), and São Paulo (SP), where she learned firsthand the challenges and joys of community life.

The new general treasurer holds a degree in Literature, a postgraduate degree in Controllership, and technical training in Accounting. This blend of human and technical skills prepared her for the role, which involves financial and asset management for the community. In her words, “administration is an act of love and service to others.”

The Role of the Treasurer in Church Life

In Christian tradition, the management of goods has always been seen as a ministry. The Bible reminds us in 1 Peter 4:10: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms” (NIV). The treasurer, or steward, cares for resources so that the Church’s mission can be fulfilled with excellence.

Rosana is not the first woman to hold this position at Canção Nova, but her election reinforces the role of women in church leadership. In a world where management is often associated with power, the community seeks a model of administration based on sharing and transparency—values Rosana has promised to cultivate.

“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:9-10, NIV)

This passage inspires the vision that material prosperity, when well-managed, can be a blessing for the whole community. The new general treasurer will face the challenge of balancing the books, investing in missionary projects, and maintaining the sustainability of the work.

A Journey of Service and Dedication

Rosana began her journey with Canção Nova 29 years ago, when the movement was still in its early days. She has witnessed the community’s growth, which now spans several countries. In every mission where she served, she left marks of competence and care.

In São Paulo, where she worked as a local treasurer, Rosana implemented financial control systems that optimized resources and allowed for the expansion of social projects. Her experience in Curitiba and Cachoeira Paulista also prepared her to handle diverse realities, from small communities to large urban centers.

The missionary is also known for her strong spirituality. She actively participates in the community’s prayer and formation times, and often says, “Without God, no spreadsheet makes sense.” This integration of faith and work is one of the pillars of Canção Nova.

Challenges and Prospects for the New Administration

The post-pandemic landscape and global economic changes pose significant challenges for any institution. At Canção Nova, resource management must be done with creativity and responsibility. Rosana will have to deal with reduced donations in some areas and increased demand for social services.

In addition, the community is in the process of renewing its leadership, with the recent re-election of Maria Marta Teixeira as general secretary and the election of Father Clóvis Andrade as general formator. The General Council team works
