In a world that often seems to forget the values of the Gospel, the Spanish Conference of Religious (CONFER) reminds us that there are people and institutions whose daily work reflects God's love. The Carisma Awards, granted by CONFER, aim to highlight those who, from different fields, promote religious life and service to others. This year, the jury has selected honorees who inspire through their dedication to formation, justice, education, digital mission, and healthcare.
The awards not only celebrate achievements but also invite us to reflect on how each of us can be an instrument of God in our own surroundings. As Scripture says in Matthew 5:16: "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven" (NIV).
The 2026 Carisma Award Winners
Formation and Spirituality: Rosa Ruiz Aragoneses
Rosa Ruiz Aragoneses, a psychologist and doctor in systematic theology, has been awarded for her work in emotional and spiritual accompaniment of people in fragile situations, illness, or at the end of life. Her integrative approach, combining psychology with theology, has been a balm for many who suffer. In a world where pain and loneliness are common, Rosa reminds us of the importance of listening and welcoming, following the example of Jesus, who always stopped for those who were suffering.
Justice and Mission: Agreement for Social Housing in Catalonia
The award in the Justice and Mission category has been given to the agreement signed between the president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, and the archbishop of Tarragona, Joan Planellas, to allocate church properties for social housing. This agreement is a concrete example of how the Church can put its resources at the service of the most needy, responding to the call of Isaiah 58:7: "Share your food with the hungry and provide the poor wanderer with shelter" (NIV).
Education: Guillermo Duque Medina (Guilleproff)
Guillermo Duque Medina, known as Guilleproff, is a teacher who has made his teaching method go viral through songs at the FEC School of Jesus in Madrid. His creativity and passion for education have made children learn in a fun and meaningful way. Education is a powerful tool to transform lives, and Guilleproff shows that with love and dedication, you can make a difference in the classroom.
Youth and Vocational Ministry: Paula Vega "Llamameyumi"
Paula Vega, known as Llamameyumi, is a lay digital missionary from the diocese of Málaga. A theology student, she has used social media to bring the Gospel to young people in a fresh and authentic way. In a digitalized world, Paula shows us that faith can also be shared through modern platforms, reaching those who might never step into a church. As Romans 10:14 says: "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?" (NIV). She is an example of how evangelization can adapt to the times without losing its essence.
Healthcare: Ricardo Martino
Ricardo Martino, head of palliative care, has been recognized for his work accompanying patients at the end of life. His work reflects the compassion of Christ, who was always close to the sick and dying. Palliative care not only alleviates physical pain but also provides spiritual and emotional support, reminding us that every person is valuable until the very last moment.
