A 12-Week Journey into the Heart of the Church's Mission

Dear brothers and sisters, have you ever wondered what the Church truly does beyond what you see on Sundays? In these times when faith needs concrete witnesses, an initiative emerges inviting us to discover the richness of the Church's mission. Over twelve weeks, we can delve into the various dimensions of Christian work, from evangelization to caring for creation.

A 12-Week Journey into the Heart of the Church's Mission

This path isn't just information—it's an opportunity to renew our baptismal commitment. As the apostle Peter reminds us:

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms" (1 Peter 4:10, NIV).
Each week presents a different facet of how the Church lives its mission in today's world.

The Church That Walks With You

The beauty of this proposal is that it doesn't remain theoretical. Through real testimonies, we meet people who embody faith in concrete actions. From those who accompany others in moments of pain to those who share the Gospel in digital spaces, we discover that the Church is alive and active.

Among the topics explored are:

  • Popular religiosity as an expression of people's faith
  • Marriage as a sacred vocation
  • Education from a Christian perspective
  • Integral ecology as care for our common home
  • Mental health through Christ's compassion

Each topic comes with deep reflections and audiovisual materials that help us better understand how our faith translates into service. It's not just about knowing, but about letting ourselves be challenged by the call to be missionary disciples in our own context.

New Ways to Communicate Faith

In tune with our times, this initiative incorporates contemporary formats like podcasts and social media content. This reminds us that the Church, while faithful to its tradition, knows how to dialogue with contemporary culture. As Vatican II teaches us, the Church must know and use social communication media to fulfill its mission.

First-person testimonies are particularly moving. Hearing from those who dedicate their lives to serving the most vulnerable, or families who live their faith daily, encourages us to recognize that holiness is built in ordinary life.

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10, NIV).

A Call to Active Participation

This twelve-week journey isn't a show to observe passively. It's an invitation to discover our own place in the Church's mission. You might wonder: Where can I serve? What gifts have I received to build up the community?

The beauty of the Church lies in its diversity of charisms and ministries. Some are called to teaching, others to charitable service, others to contemplative prayer. We're all necessary, like different members of one body. This initiative helps us discern how we can contribute from our own vocation.

To Reflect and Act

After these twelve weeks, I invite you to pause and ask yourself: Which aspect of the Church's mission resonated most in my heart? In what area do I feel the Lord calling me to greater commitment?

You don't need to do great things to begin. It can be as simple as visiting a sick neighbor, participating more actively in your parish community, or sharing uplifting content on your social media. What matters is responding generously to the love we've received.

Remember that although Pope Francis is no longer physically with us, his pastoral legacy continues to inspire us. The current Pope León XIV, elected in May 2025, encourages us to live our faith with authenticity and commitment in the contemporary world.
