From April 17th to 19th, something extraordinary happened at the Sanctuary of the Mexican Martyrs in Guadalajara. More than six thousand five hundred men gathered with a common purpose: to rediscover what it means to be a man according to God's heart. This Fearless Congress was not simply another Christian event, but a movement that touched deep fibers of the masculine soul, inviting each participant to live with courage and virtue in a world that often confuses strength with hardness.

Rediscovering God's Design for Manhood: A Transformative Gathering in Guadalajara

Amidst a culture that presents contradictory models of masculinity, this gathering offered a space to reflect on the true identity of the Christian man. As the apostle Paul reminds us:

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV)
This transformation begins when we allow God to mold our character according to His original design.

Testimonies That Inspire Courage

Among the participants stood out the presence of Bosco Gutiérrez Cortina, a Mexican architect whose testimony resonated deeply in the auditorium. Kidnapped for 257 days after attending Mass in 1990, he shared how prayer became his anchor in the midst of the storm. "Here I am by the will of God," he affirmed with emotion, recognizing that it was the connection with the divine that allowed him to maintain hope when everything seemed lost.

His experience reminds us that true strength does not consist in the absence of fear, but in the ability to trust in God even when fear surrounds us. As the psalmist wrote:

"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me" (Psalm 23:4, NIV)
This trust transforms our perspective and allows us to face any circumstance with inner peace.

The Will: The Spiritual Muscle That Needs Exercise

Gutiérrez Cortina shared a powerful metaphor: "The most important muscle we have to work is the will." In a world that prioritizes immediate gratification, developing a firm will aligned with God's purposes becomes a revolutionary act. Prayer, according to his testimony, is not an empty ritual but the daily training that strengthens this spiritual muscle.

This teaching echoes Jesus' words:

"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." (Matthew 26:41, NIV)
Recognizing our human weakness drives us to constantly depend on divine grace, cultivating a will that lovingly submits to God.

Understanding Differences to Build Unity

Clinical psychologist Isabel Rojas Estapé offered an enlightening perspective on the differences between men and women, highlighting that diversity does not imply superiority but complementarity. She explained that while women tend to process reality in a multifocal way, connecting various elements simultaneously, men usually focus on specific objectives in a more linear manner.

These differences, far from being obstacles, can become opportunities for mutual growth when we understand them from the divine design. The apostle Peter exhorts us:

"Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers." (1 Peter 3:7, NIV)
This call to honor and mutual understanding builds relationships that reflect Christ's love.

Love That Endures Beyond Initial Feelings

Rojas Estapé delved into the nature of love that goes beyond fleeting emotions, emphasizing commitment as the foundation of lasting relationships. She noted that while initial attraction and feelings are important, it is the daily decision to love, serve, and honor one another that sustains marriages and families through life's challenges. This perspective aligns with biblical teachings about covenant love—the kind of love God shows us and calls us to demonstrate in our relationships. As men gathered to rediscover their God-given identity, this message resonated as a practical application of spiritual principles in everyday life, reminding participants that true masculinity includes the capacity for faithful, enduring love that reflects God's own character.
