Rediscovering Christian Values in a Postmodern World: A Call to Hope

Source: EncuentraIglesias Editorial

We live in an era of great transformation, where traditional values seem to crumble under the influence of a postmodern culture that often forgets its Christian roots. Many of us feel lost, as if the moral compass has been thrown away. But faith offers us a light that never goes out, able to guide us even through the darkest nights.

Rediscovering Christian Values in a Postmodern World: A Call to Hope

The term “inclusive” is used frequently today, but it often hides a very different reality. It’s not about welcoming everyone with love, but about imposing a worldview that excludes those who believe in absolute values. As Christians, we are called to distinguish between true inclusion, which welcomes without judging but also without denying the truth, and a false inclusion that erases differences to homogenize thought.

God’s Word reminds us that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). In a world that constantly changes, our anchor is in the rock that never wavers. We must not fear change, but face it with the wisdom that comes from above.

The Challenge of Relativism

Relativism is one of the main characteristics of our age. It is said that there is no absolute truth, only points of view. This mindset can creep into our communities, making us doubt the power of the Gospel. Yet Scripture urges us: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).

Relativism is not just an abstract philosophy; it touches daily life: in ethical choices, family relationships, work. As Christians, we may be tempted to conform so as not to feel out of place. But our identity is in Christ, and his truth sets us free (see John 8:32).

It’s not about imposing faith arrogantly, but about witnessing with humility and consistency. Every Christian is called to be “the salt of the earth and the light of the world” (Matthew 5:13-16), bringing a message of hope that goes against the current.

Rediscovering Christian Values Today

Family as God’s Gift

The family is the first place where values are learned. In a time when the very concept of family is being questioned, we are called to rediscover its beauty according to God’s design. “God created mankind in his own image; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27). Complementarity and faithful love are pillars that never go out of style.

The Church invites us to support families, especially those facing difficulties. We do not judge those who are far away, but reach out a hand to accompany everyone toward the fullness of God’s love.

Life as a Precious Gift

From conception to natural death, every human life is sacred. In a society that often discards the weakest, the sick, the elderly, the Gospel reminds us that “each of us is a thought of God” (cf. Psalm 139). Defending life also means caring for creation, social justice, the poor. It is a commitment that involves us all.

“You shall not murder” (Exodus 20:13) is not just a commandment, but an invitation to protect and promote life in every form.

Solidarity Born of Faith

Christian faith is not a private matter; it translates into concrete love for neighbor. “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31) is the commandment that drives us out of ourselves. In an individualistic world, solidarity becomes prophecy.

We can start with small gestures: visiting a sick person, listening to someone who is lonely, sharing what we have. Charity is not optional; it is the heart of the Gospel.

An Invitation to Hope

Despite the difficulties, we are not alone. The Holy Spirit is with us and guides us. The Church, with its human limitations, is the body of Christ and continues the mission. Pope Leo XIV, elected in May 2025, encourages us to be witnesses of hope in a changing world.
