Gaya Mor was born in Israel into a Jewish family, but from an early age she faced internal battles that led to a deep existential emptiness. Anxiety and loneliness accompanied her throughout her youth, and she sought relief in destructive paths, including self-harm. Amid confusion about her identity, Gaya lived as transgender for a period, but nothing filled the void in her heart.
The situation worsened after the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023. Trauma and fear intensified her anxiety, and she began to have sleepless nights, tormented by dark thoughts. It was in this moment of despair that Gaya found a New Testament — a book that, for her, represented a foreign faith, but sparked her curiosity.
“My anxiety just skyrocketed. I couldn’t sleep,” Gaya recalls, sharing her story on CBN News’ program “Radical Revelations.” What she didn’t know was that this ancient book would bring a revolution to her soul.
Encountering the Messiah in Scripture
As she began reading the New Testament, Gaya was surprised to discover deeply Jewish elements in the text. She expected to find a foreign religion, but instead encountered the roots of her own faith. The Old Testament prophecies fulfilled in Jesus, the promised Messiah, powerfully touched her heart.
“I read about the life of Jesus and was overcome with a sense of repentance and brokenness,” she says. In a sincere prayer, Gaya asked for forgiveness: “Father, forgive me. I’m so sorry. Jesus received so much hatred from us back then. We were His people and we rejected Him.”
Reading the Gospels confronted her with the reality that Jesus was not just a prophet, but God incarnate, who came to save His people. She identified with Christ’s pain and understood that His love was greater than any rejection.
From Anxiety to Peace That Surpasses Understanding
One night in crisis, when anxiety tightened its grip and the urges to self-harm returned, Gaya cried out to Jesus. She asked Him to reveal Himself to her in a real and tangible way. At that moment, a supernatural peace enveloped her, and she felt the presence of God undeniably.
“I was hurting myself again, but then I prayed, ‘Jesus, if You are real, show me.’ And He came. I felt such an intense love that all the wounds of my soul were healed,” she testifies. From that night on, Gaya was never the same. She surrendered her life to Jesus and began to experience a freedom she had never known.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28, NIV).
Gaya found in Christ the rest her soul longed for. She left behind self-harm and identity confusion, finding in God her true identity as a beloved daughter.
A New Life in Community
After her conversion, Gaya sought a faith community where she could grow spiritually. She connected with other Messianic Jewish believers and Christians, finding support and biblical teaching. Her story has inspired many, showing that God’s love transcends religious and cultural barriers.
“I thought Christianity was a religion for Gentiles, but I discovered that Jesus is the fulfillment of everything the prophets spoke. He is the Messiah of Israel and of all nations,” Gaya declares.
Today, she boldly shares her testimony, encouraging others who struggle with anxiety and depression to seek true peace in Jesus. Her story is a reminder that God never gives up on anyone and that Scripture has the power to transform lives.
Reflection for the Reader
Gaya’s story invites us to reflect: Are we open to finding God in the most unexpected places? Often we carry prejudices about what truth is, but God’s Word has the power to break through our preconceptions and bring light into our lives. If you are going through a time of anxiety or emptiness, remember that Jesus offers you rest and a true identity in Him.
